Thank you for your interest in the future of Children's Discovery Centre!
On May 23rd, we launched Children's Discovery Centre as a pilot project in a temporary 'pop-up' location at 45 Strachan Avenue in downtown Toronto. This was a grassroots initiative from the start with support from friends, family and colleagues who believed in our vision to create an educational and engaging play-based centre for our youngest children.
The goal of our pilot project was to show that young families in our city need and want a permanent 'children's museum' in Toronto, like the ones already found in over 200 other cities throughout North America.
Over the past 4 months, we welcomed thousands of young families and learned that they need and want quality places to take young kids. We were even approached to consider a couple of potential permanent locations in the downtown area. Recently, we were also given an opportunity to extend our pilot project until December 31st!
However, operating the pilot project over the summer months was also challenging as we found that families were also busy with holidays, cottages and enjoying the beautiful weather.
Therefore, in order to help us get to the end of our extended pilot project and to enable us to seriously explore future locations, we are asking for your support for our 20,000 Bricks Campaign to raise funds to help build a permanent home for Children's Discovery Centre.
The campaign is simple: our goal is to sell 20,000 bricks for $25 each from now to December 31st. Each brick will have your name(s) inscribed on it, and all bricks will be displayed at the entry of the permanent Children's Discovery Centre.
The permanent Children's Discovery Centre will be a unique outdoor and indoor children's museum designed for kids aged 12 and under, and also offer many other family amenities & services, such as summer camps, kids programs, daycare, pre-schools, kid-friendly restaurants, retail and more.
